Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged from 16 unwards but to succeed as an apprentice you need to be flexibile, hard working, confident and always up for a challenge. The level 2 programme runs for a 12 to 18 month period. You will be working with your employer and will attend Milltech on a fortnightly basis.
The aim of the apprenticeship programme is to contribute to the skills, knowledge and overall performance of IT in using skills learned to understand apply to work related situations. It provides an insight into the principles and processes of Information Technology and User Skills in particular and will aid career development.
The intermediate apprenticeship framework consists of the following components:
Competence qualification: Level 2 Diploma in IT User Skill
These qualifications are suitable for candidates who are using IT within their job. Units can be taken at a variety of levels which gives flexibility to enable the qualification to match the job role. This qualification will allow candidates to apply knowledge, understanding and skills to a level recognised by employers, thus proving competency in their job role.
The Level 2 Diploma in IT User Skills (ITQ Apprentice) has three mandatory units and various optional units from which to choose. Below are the mandatory units and some examples of the optional units:-

Transferable Skills: Functional Skills qualification
All jobs require a number of key skills to ensure it is done well. Therefore the framework includes**:
- Maths Level 1
- English Level 1
- Information and Communication Technology Level 2
**Please note exemptions may apply depending on accredited prior learning, which will be discussed and agreed during the initial assessment process.
The programme has been designed to be challenging, yet fun and interactive focusing on team working, team building, group activities and exercise. It is also designed to develop and build on individual''s interpersonal skills and an appreciation of the importance of team working. The programme is interactive and requires candidates to take part in all of the exercises to allow for group assessment and individual assessment.
All candidates will be given the opportunity to use an e-portfolio system which can be accessed and managed remotely at any time day or night. It provides candidates with a secure online portfolio improving flexibility and security of assessment procedures.
