Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Team Leading
Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged 16 and over but to succeed as an apprentice you need to be flexible, hard working, confident and always up for a challenge. The level 2 programme runs over a 12 month period. You will be working with your employer, your team and your assessor to gather evidence towards the different elements of your qualification framework.
The aim of the apprenticeship programme is to contribute to the skills, knowledge and overall performance of Management and Leadership. Its purpose is to provide an insight into the principles and processes of Management and Leadership and to aid in career progression
The intermediate apprenticeship framework consists of the following components:
Competence qualification: Level 2 F&S Diploma in Team Leading
The qualification is designed for people who:
- are entering a management role
- wish to gain a qualification that formally recognizes their skills
- lead a team and are responsible for performance
The full certificate requires the candidate to complete a total of 17 credits. There are three mandatory units and various optional units from which to choose.
THE MANDATORY UNITS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
• Manage Personal Development
• Develop Working Relationships with Colleagues
• Communicate Information and Knowledge
WIDE RANGE OF OPTIONAL UNITS AVAILABLE INCLUDING:
• Set objectives and provide support for Team Members
• Plan, allocate and monitor work of a team
• Manage conflict in a team
• Make effective decisions
• Lead and manage meetings
Knowledge qualification: Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Team Leading
This qualification aims to allow learners to develop the general and essential knowledge of team leading roles and understand the personal and interpersonal skills of an effective team leader. To achieve this aspect of the framework students must complete a minimum of 13 credits through successfully achieving exams on the following topics:
• Communicating Information & Knowledge in the Work Place
• Team Leading Responsibilities
• Managing Yourself and Providing Direction to Your Team
Transferable skills: Key or Functional Skills qualifications
All jobs require a number of key skills to ensure it is delivered effectively. Therefore the framework includes**:
- Maths Level 1
- English Level 1
- Information Communication Technology Level 1
**Please note exemptions may apply depending on accredited prior learning, which will be discussed and agreed during the initial assessment process.
The programme has been designed to be challenging and rewarding, as well as focusing on current job role requirements and enhancing performance. It is also designed to develop and build on individual’s interpersonal skills and an appreciation of the importance of team working. The programme is delivered in the work place and bespoke to the individual’s current role and development areas.
All candidates will be given the use of an e-portfolio system which can be accessed and managed remotely at any time day or night. It provides candidates with a secure online portfolio improving flexibility and security of assessment procedures as well as management access to monitor progress and provide evidence.
Candidates who complete the Intermediate Apprenticeship could progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship in Management.
