Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Management


The aim of this qualification is to contribute to the skills, knowledge and overall performance of Management and Leadership. Its purpose is to provide insight into the principles and processes of Management and Leadership, and to aid career progression.



Knowledge qualification: Certificate in Management Principles


The ICQ Level 3 Certificate in Management Principles aims to allow learners to:-

  • Develop the essential, generic background knowledge and understanding for a range of middle management roles.
  • Develop the background knowledge and understanding of the personal and interpersonal skills required for an effective middle manager
  • Support the learner in acquiring the knowledge and understanding for the Level 3 NVQ certificate in Management.


 The mandatory units for the Principles are:



• Managing Self Development

• Responsibilities as a Manager

• Objective Setting and Communicating to Support Teams







The assessment for this qualification is through externally set and externally marked multiple choice tests.


Employee Right and Responsibilities


This comprises of the completion and assessment of the CFA Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) workbook.


Personal Learning and Thinking Skills


These are mapped to the mandatory units of Level 3 Certificate in Management.


Competence Qualification: Level 3 Certificate in Management


This QCF Diploma is designed for those who are entering or aspiring towards a managerial role, or who wish to gain a qualification that formally recognises competence. It is for those who manage a team and who are responsible for its performance and direction. It is also appropriate for individuals within a management role who undertake wider managerial responsibilities including amongst others: recruitment and selection; budgetary management; and learning and development.

Generic Skills: Functional Skills Qualifications in English, Maths and ICT


A minimum of level 2 in the above functional skills must be completed to obtain the qualification.  Please note exemptions may apply depending on accredited prior learning, which will be discussed and agreed during the initial assessment process.


This qualification is ideal if you would like to boost your management skills, sharpen your awareness of best practice, enhance your overall management performance and progress your career.  It offers progression onto the Level 5 Diploma in Management.
